Aikotoba Contest Winners Announcement

Last month (June, 2012), we had the あいことば (aikotoba=passwords) contest to reinforce Japanese pronunciation, rhythm, and tone.
Winners
1st   Melissa Ginn

2nd  Damien Hicks
3rd  Alyshia Ryan
special award for effort   David Bourgeois

I would like to congratulate not only winners but all participants who did such a great job.
The judge was a Japanese student at MUN. She said it was really difficult to choose because everyone's entry was so good. I am also very impressed at how much improvement that I am seeing in everyone's Japanese level.

Have you heard the following proverbs?
「千里の道も一歩から」(せんりのみちもいっぽから)
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
It means…
No matter how large the task, it all starts with just one step. If something seems difficult, try doing just a portion at a time. Eventually, you'll complete the task.
「学問に王道なし」(がくもんにおうどうなし)
There is no royal road to learning.
It means…
There are no shortcuts or east roads in learning.
Do your best!
